SGSC’s swim team travelled to Berry College in Rome, Ga., this weekend and participated in a two-day, three-session dual meet. The Division III Vikings of Berry edged both the Hawks men and women in the meet in the total team score. The Hawks men were leading the meet going to into the final session on Saturday, but Berry came out on top.

“We swam well and won a large number of events," commented Head Coach CM Jenkins, “but their depth and numbers in the individual events and relays were too much for us to contend with.”

Leading the Hawks for the weekend was Andrew Brown, a freshman from Lake Placid, Fla. Andrew was a perfect six for six, winning all of his individual events.

Keeping pace with Brown was Kiana Ocasio-Molina of Jacksonville, Fla., who won four of her six events and Nikki Daley, a sprinter from Warner Robins, Ga., won three races.

Winning two events were Jake Davis from Vidalia, Ga., with a win in both the 100 and 200 freestyle, and Jessica Dunton from Carrollton, Ga., with a win in the 50 and 200 yard butterfly.

Brittany Herndon from Carrollton, Ga., won her first college 1650 mile race at the meet while Madison Elliott from Macon, Ga., won the 50 yard breaststroke event.

The team will be off for the Thanksgiving holidays but will resume action on Dec. 1-3 at a three-day meet at SCAD in Savannah.
