Elton Anthony Reese, 81

Elton Anthony Reese was born July 15, 1939, to the late Lester Rease and Willie Mae Eady Rease in Coffee County, Georgia. He was the eldest of nine siblings. He received his early education at George Washington Carver High School in Douglas, GA graduating in 1958. In 1962 he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served in Germany.


He had the privilege of visiting several countries in Europe and Africa. He treasured a photo he took of then-President John F. Kennedy in 1963, during the President’s visit with U.S. troops in Germany. After returning to the United States, he also served in the National Guard. He spent over 40 years at Lott Builders Supply Company in Douglas until his retirement. Not one to stop working, he continued working in transporter services. He was also instrumental in starting a “Loving Care” Daycare center.

Elton was a devoted spiritual man. He gave advice to many he knew. He believed in Christianity and that was his Legacy. He was a dedicated member of Shiloh Baptist Church for decades. On April 24, 1965, he was united in matrimony to Luvenia Williams. They remained married until she died in 1996. He is preceded in death by one brother: James Rease, and one sister: Lou Helen Williams.


He is survived by two daughters: Valerie Mohoney of Savannah, Georgia, Pamela Carter of Jacksonville, Florida; one son: John P. (Shae) Moultrie of Ormond Beach, Florida; three brothers: Felton Rease, Albert (Betty) Rease, David (Katherene) Rease all of Douglas, Georgia; four sisters: Virginia Rease of Douglas, Georgia, Winnell Thomas of Wray, Georgia, Shirley (Jerome) Phillips and Barbara (Robert) Lewis both of Douglas, Georgia; eight grandchildren and eleven great -grandchildren; and a host of sorrowing nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
