Martha Ann Keva Odom Thompson, age 87, of Douglas, Georgia, has moved to her new home in Heaven to be with Jesus on Monday, November 28, 2022. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 30, 6-8 pm at Ricketson Funeral Home, and the funeral services will be held Thursday, December 1, 4:00 pm at Jowers Chapel Holiness Baptist Church with Rev. Marshall Dye & Pastor Andrew Shurtliff officiating.

Keva was born August 17, 1935, to the late William Spencer and Alavan Odom of Moultrie, Georgia. A graduate of Moultrie High School, she attended Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, and went on to serve in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Keva lived a blessed life full of Christianity, marriage, five children, 13 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. She was a single mother for many years raising her children to be successful and productive, but mostly instilled the importance of knowing Christ as Savior. She remarried at age 63 to R. J. Thompson, who was a wonderful husband to her. With her sharp mental acuity, she worked in the accounting field for many years and was an excellent seamstress, who sewed many of her children’s clothes, including tuxedos for prom. She also was very talented in quilting and crafts and made several items for her children and grandchildren over the years. Keva had an unbelievable green thumb and loved growing plants, especially cacti, which she was growing until the day she died. She was an exceptional angler who could catch anything and fished often in Florida waters, especially the Panacea,  Carrabelle, and Saint Marks locations. Keva loved sports and played in women’s minor  league softball in Indiana, where she hit numerous home runs and could field and throw second to none. She was an avid bowler, who had bowled perfect games, and also loved to golf. When not actively participating in sports, Keva loved watching all sports, MLB, NFL, NBA, and college football, especially the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves. She traveled and lived in numerous states throughout her lifetime. Her favorite place to go was church, where she strengthened and deepened her relationship with Christ. In her latter years, she learned to play the piano and crochet. She gave back to her community and family by assisting in various ways as needed. Proverbs 31:28.

Keva is predeceased by her husband R. J. Thompson; parents Mr. & Mrs. William Spencer Odom, brothers Jeff Odom, Wyatt Odom, Elkin Odom; sister Fern Odom Crawford; grandson Jason Hernandez.
