Investigators with the Coffee County Sheriff's Office are reporting the arrests of three people in connection with a string of burglaries which occurred during the months of June and July.
On August 1, officials received information about individuals that could be involved in these burglaries and, as a result of this information, investigators arrested Carlos Refugio Diaz, Zeke Williams Buttz and Ashton Mikelle Solomon for their involvement.
In a press release issued by the sheriff's office this weeks, law enforcement officials stated crime victims around the county reported that unknown suspects had entered their residences and taken items that included electronics, jewelry, currency and clothing.
During this investigation it was determined entry was made by someone taking a knife or a screwdriver-type object and prying the doors open. Coffee County investigators stated that all these victims reported the burglars would mostly take jewelry, with some stating the burglars would ignore high dollar items such as guns and flat screen televisions and would go straight to the bedrooms, where jewelry was most likely to be stored.
Detectives report that over $59 thousand worth of property (mostly jewelry) was taken altogether. While some of the property was recovered, most of the jewelry was sold to gold buyers in four different counties. As a result of these investigations, Zeke Buttz was charged with seven counts of burglary. Ashton Solomon is charged with three counts of burglary, and Carlos Diaz is charged with five counts of burglary.
Coffee County Sheriff’s Office investigators are still looking into these incidents and more charges could be possible.
All three individuals are being held in the Coffee County Jail without bond.
