On Friday, Premium Waters’s corporate office, along with the local Premium Waters Employees Committee, presented the City of Douglas and Douglas Coffee County Parks and Recreation Department with two checks totaling $15,625. The first check, in the amount of $15,000, came directly from Premium Waters’s corporate office, located in Minneapolis, Minn. The second check was presented by the Premium Team Employees Committee in the amount of $625. Motivated and result driven, this team of employees quickly got involved and within one month held a cookie sale and donation drive to benefit this community project.

“This year, our corporate office implemented a program to support local charities that contribute to the people initiatives, especially involving youth,” says Plant Manager Mike Lord. “We chose to donate to the City of Douglas’s efforts to build a Miracle Field because the field will be a playground and recreational environment for children and adults with disabilities and special needs. It is our hopes that this facility be become a common area for many to enjoy for years to come. As an employee said earlier, we have a Premium Team here at Premium Waters.”

Teaming with the Miracle League and community partners such as Premium Waters, Douglas’s Miracle Field will be built to create a safe and positive environment for special needs children and adults in our community, as well as surrounding cities, to enjoy. What was formally Davis Wade Park will become a baseball field and playground for special needs children and adults to enjoy. To enable play and help prevent injuries to special needs players, the field must have specialized turf and equipment to accommodate children and adults with disabilities. The program will cost approximately $750,000 for construction of the field and playground. Donations are being accepted from businesses, organizations, and individuals.

“We are very appreciative of these donations from Premium Waters,” says Stevie Young, Parks and Recreation Director. “Their donation will help keep us moving forward with our plans to build our Miracle Field for our disabled and special needs citizens and for others from surrounding counties to enjoy.” Premium Waters plans to continue to donate locally to other charities in the coming years. According to Lord, each year, a different charity will be selected and the amount of the donation may vary.
