Mr. Jessie Gene Merritt, age 77 of Douglas, GA passed away Monday afternoon, September 6, 2021 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Merritt was born January 17, 1944 to the late Riley Arthur Merritt and the late Stella Lee Tucker Merritt.

Mr. Merritt, a native of Coffee County, had a 30 year career in banking with Farmers Bank, Broxton State Bank, Coffee County Bank and First National Bank of Coffee County. He was a veteran of the United States Marines, where he served 2 terms in Vietnam from 1964 until 1970..

His wife: Linda Dianne Harper Merritt of Douglas,GA

Daughter: Lori Jeneen Merritt-Cliett and husband Darin of Douglas, GA

Son: Jason Elijah Merritt and wife Kim of Douglas, GA

Sisters: Gwinette Bracewell and husband James of Douglas, GA
Patricia Teston and husband Junior of Douglas,GA

Grandchildren: Logan Merritt, Haley Merritt, Noah Cliett and Natalie
Cliett all of Douglas, GA

Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and many Friends.

The graveside service and interment will be Friday morning, September 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Salem Cemetery with Rev. Marshall Adcock officiating.

Active Pallbearers for the service will be: Chase Lewis, Henry Lewis, Stacy Teston, Bryan Teston, Irvin Bracewell and Michael Bracewell.

Honorary Pallbearers for the service will be: Ronnie Carver, Johnny Morris, Sammy Lastinger, Butch Wright, Keith Wright, Tommy Little, Kerry Van Moore, Scott Day, Roy Harper , Greg Gore, Jerry Pope, Richael Dockery, Sammy Darrell Wooten, Donnie Harper, George Bordeaux, Fred Cole, Joe Rooker, Ronnie Spivey and Greg Batten.

Due to COVID-19, the family would like to ask that all attendees, please follow the rules of social distancing, and wear your mask for safety precautions at the service.
