Linda Faye Stapleton, age 76, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Tift Regional Medical Center, Tifton, Georgia. Mrs. Stapleton was born on May 6, 1944 in Pearson, Georgia the daughter of the late Henry and Lorraine Mancil McGovern Jr.

 

Mrs. Stapleton graduated from Crawford Long and Georgia State University in the nursing program as an RN and worked as an ER nurse with Coffee Regional Medical Center. She also was a member of The Sanctuary, Douglas, GA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom K. Stapleton and two brothers, Willie McGovern and Tom McGovern.

 

Survivors include three children, Charles Stapleton (Debra) of Douglas, GA, Jimmy Stapleton (Melissa) of Blackshear, GA and Ellen Pope (Jerry) of Douglas, GA; sister, Edwina Taylor of Brunswick, GA; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many special friends.

 

The family will receive friends Saturday morning, January 23, 2021 from 10am until time of service at 11am at Sims Funeral Home.

 

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 11:00am at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Powell officiating. Mandy McGovern and Callie S. Royer will give a eulogy. Interment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery.  

 

Musical selections will be “I Will Trust in Him”, “Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone” sung by Chad and Cassie Crisp. Cassie Crisp will play prelude and postlude music on the piano.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
