Two shootings took place in Douglas on Wednesday, June 28. The first one happened just after 6 a.m. on South Gaskin Avenue and Pinecrest Drive, and resulted in the arrests of Jaquiez Young and Isaiah Wright.
The second incident happened on North June Avenue around 11:30 p.m. and thus far has not yielded any arrests although police officers are looking for multiple suspects.
A DPD incident report states that the victim stepped outside the front door of a home on North June Avenue. When he did, a black truck, drove by the house firing in the air. The victim went back in the house and the truck continued traveling south on June Avenue. At the next stop sign, more shots rang out from the truck. Nothing was hit and no one was injured.
The victim said he did not know who fired the shots. Officers picked up two shell casings from the road — one from a 9mm and the other from a .380.
Earlier in the day, several individuals made a post on social media that referenced “shooting up the westside.” Officers are investigating to see if there is a link between the post and the June Avenue incident.
No arrests have been made.
