Featured Domestic 'issue' leads to Douglas man's third arrest since August Submitted photo

Last week, local law enforcement responded to a residence in Douglas regarding a possible domestic issue involving two women. Two men at the home ended up being taken into custody on bench warrants. One of the men was Jarmall "Chris Rock" Jackson, who was arrested for the third time since August. Jackson’s August arrest happened because someone posted a video of him choking another person in a car.

According to an incident report, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Kennedy Circle around 12:13 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The officer stated that when he arrived, he could hear a female shouting before he exited his patrol car. He said that when he exited his vehicle and began to walk up to the home, a female on the property "was yelling about how the police were there now and how she was going to press charges. The female, according to the officer, was "obviously intoxicated from some form of narcotics."

The report states that when the officer entered the home, a female inside asked how he could "just walk into her house like that." The officer advised the female that they had received a 911 call reporting a possible assault, which they had to investigate.

According to the woman, who was "hysterical," another female had "jumped her" after she sent messages to her phone and called her to "come over to that location." The woman also stated that when the police arrived, the woman she accused of jumping her went to the back.

The officer reported that as she walked down the hallway, the first person she came to was 37-year-old Markeithus Powell. The suspect then walked out of a bedroom across from Powell and claimed that the other woman had attacked her first, with her just acting in self-defense. Both women reportedly had marks and cuts and had conflicting stories regarding what had occurred. The officer informed them that if they wanted to take out charges against each other, they could do so in magistrate court.

As officers interviewed individuals inside the home, an officer found Jackson inside. The officer checked for warrants issued for Jackson and discovered a bench warrant through the Coffee County Sheriff's Office. According to the warrant, Jackson failed to appear for a court appearance earlier this month.

A check was also made on Powell, who had a parole warrant from Arkansas. According to the officer, after sending a hit on the warrant, officials responded with a nationwide extradition and placed a hold on Powell.

Both men were taken to the Coffee County Jail on the warrants.

This is Jackson’s third arrest this year. In the first case, he was charged with aggravated assault after a video of him appearing to choke a man in a vehicle was posted on social media. Jackson was granted a bond in the Superior Court of Coffee County just a few weeks later. However, he was arrested again on one count of battery for an incident that occurred in September. The report for the arrest stated that Jackson told an officer he grabbed a man by his dreads and hit him several times in the ribs. A few days later, Jackson was released on bond in magistrate court.

In his most recent arrest, Jackson has been denied bond and is currently in the Coffee County Jail.

Powell also received a fugitive charge and is currently in the local jail as he awaits extradition.
